The breadboard is just the perfect place to play around, but there will come a day when you’ll really need to do some basic soldering. And that day might arrive sooner than you think! Most of the add-on boards and cool components will require some soldering in order to be used with your board.
Yeah I know, it’s a bit scary! But fear not, it’s actually quite easy, it just requires a bit of practice until you really get the hang of it. A good way to challenge yourself into soldering is to buy an LED array kit or something similar, because there’s usually a LOT of LEDs to solder .. so by the time you finish the thing, you’ll be an expert ;D I highly recommend kits from Adafruit, they’re super fun.
The thing is: really, don’t be scared, there’s no mystery to it. The first time will be difficult and it might look ugly, but that’s normal, it will get better with practice, I promise! Here’s a really quick illustrated guide to get you acquainted with basic soldering:
